ConcludedThe Bombay High Court recorded adverse findings against police personnel and ordered Rs 500,000.
The Bombay High Court (Aurangabad Bench) held that a Burudgaon, Ahmednagar woman, a 50-year-old Pardhi tribal woman illegally picked up on 12-05-2007 without any arrest record, died in police custody after torture at Kotwali Police Station, the LCB office and the Jamkhed rest house to extract information about stolen gold, rejecting the CID suicide-by-poison theory since no poison was detected and nine ante-mortem injuries including a head injury were found. The court held no sanction under Section 197 CrPC was needed as every act was unauthorised and illegal, left it open to the trial court to frame murder charges (Sections 302, 201 read with 120B IPC), and vacated the stay on Sessions Case No. 184 of 2013. It granted Rs 5,00,000 compensation to a Burudgaon, Ahmednagar woman's legal representatives (State to deposit in court within 45 days, 8% default interest, recoverable from the responsible police officers after inquiry).
