On 18-10-2019 the SHO, PS Bar arrested 68-year-old Husan of Dhar on a parole-violation warrant meant for Husna, a life-convict step-brother who had died in 2016, and Husan was lodged in Central Jail Indore to serve another man's sentence. The State, through SDOP [name withheld]'s affidavit and same-day rojnamcha entries, insisted the arrested man was the convict. The Court ordered a fingerprint-based inquiry by the Principal Secretary (Home), which proved an innocent lookalike had languished in jail for four months. The Court held the detention illegal, awarded Rs 5 lakh compensation, ordered contempt cases against the SDOP and the rojnamcha-entry makers, and directed biometric identification of all arrestees.
