Mohan Barodiya Man v. Lokayukta Special Police Establishment, Bhopal

The Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore Bench) affirmed the conviction of SHO of Police Station Mohan Barodiya by the Special Judge, Shajapur (Special Case 1/2002, judgment 26 September 2003) under Sections 7, 13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The prosecution case was that when complainant [name withheld] reported on 7 January 2002 that Ramesh Chandra had snatched Rs. 915 from him, the SHO demanded Rs. 1,000 to take action, and on 16 January 2002 a Lokayukta trap at Jain Uphar Grih caught him accepting the money with phenolphthalein wash turning pink. The affirmation, despite the complainant turning hostile, is expressly recorded in two later Indore Bench judgments. The sentence of one year's rigorous imprisonment with fine on each count stands affirmed. Matters not addressed in the cited judgment text are not recorded here.
