The Punjab and Haryana High Court upheld the dismissal of ASI, Incharge of Police Post Barwala, who with Constable attended the drowning death of Nepali labourer a Barwala man two-year-old son at Amit Poultry Farm, Barwala. The Court found he brokered a Rs 60,000 compromise instead of taking legal action, pocketed Rs 25,000 as expenditure, gave Rs 2,000 to the constable, and got the child cremated without post-mortem, with the farm owner enquiry statement proving demand and acceptance of bribe. SP Panchkula dismissed him on 19 August 2008, affirmed on appeal, revision and mercy petition.
