ConcludedThe trial court convicted the accused police personnel, as recorded in the Supreme Court of India judgment.
The judgment of the Supreme Court of India records the following account. On 4 January 1994 the two traffic policemen stopped lorry driver [name withheld]. A Hyderabad man at Santoshnagar crossroads, Hyderabad, on the pretext of a no-entry violation, seized his vehicle documents and demanded Rs. 100 to return them without booking a case. An ACB trap caught the co-accused accepting the marked Rs. 100 inside Yakutpura Traffic Police Station in the appellant's presence. The Special Judge convicted both, and the Andhra Pradesh High Court maintained the conviction while reducing sentence. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, holding the appellant intercepted the vehicle, was on duty at the spot and shared common intention under Section 34 IPC, sustaining 6 months' SI under Section 7 and 1 year's SI under Section 13 PC Act.
