Mohali Man vs State of Punjab

The High Court of Punjab and Haryana held that CIA Staff Patiala police officers abducted and eliminated a Mohali man following a raid on a house in SAS Nagar (Mohali) in September 1989, in which his companion a Mohali man was shot dead. The Court accepted the report of the District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh, rejecting the police's false claim that a Mohali man had escaped unarmed from an armed police cordon. The High Court directed the CBI to register a criminal case, investigate, and file a chargesheet against Inspector [name withheld] and ASI, and awarded Rs 3,00,000 compensation to the deceased's family, recoverable from the accused upon conviction. Matters not addressed in the cited judgment text are not recorded here.
