Conviction
ConcludedThe trial court convicted the accused police personnel, as recorded in the Allahabad High Court judgment.
The Allahabad High Court upheld every conviction of the ten PS Baghpat policemen who, avenging an assault on a fellow Sub-Inspector, shot dead the complainant's husband and two others and stripped, assaulted and detained the complainant in June 1980. The Court held all appellants were members of an unlawful assembly guilty of the offences found by the trial court, including Section 354/149 with two years RI. It reduced the six death sentences to life imprisonment, upheld the four existing life terms and set aside the fines. The appellants on bail were ordered to be taken into custody forthwith.
