ConcludedThe trial court convicted the accused police personnel, as recorded in the Rajasthan High Court judgment.
The judgment of the Rajasthan High Court records the following account. RPF Sub-Inspector, in charge of the RPF post at Western Railway, Jaipur, demanded Rs 1,000 from shunter a Jaipur man — Rs 500 immediately — as the price for releasing him on bail in railway-property case Crime No. 9 of 1969 in April 1969. The Anti-Corruption Department laid a trap with marked currency, recovered the notes from the appellant's pocket, and the Special Judge, Jaipur convicted him under Section 161 IPC and Section 5(2) read with Section 5(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947, sentencing him to one year's rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 500 fine. The court found both charges proved beyond reasonable doubt, held the sentence was not severe with no mitigating circumstances, dismissed the appeal, cancelled his bail, and directed the District Magistrate, Jaipur to have him arrested to serve the sentence.
