What happened
India Code records the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1978 as State Act 5 of 1978, enacted on 4 July 1978. The Department of Industries and Commerce says the Board commenced operations in January 1979.
The NKVIB is a non-profit statutory body under Act 5 of 1978 whose establishment expenditure is the sole responsibility of the State Government (Section 25(1) of the Act), and it operates a Khadi Bhavan retail outlet selling trainee/artisan products in Dimapur. PMEGP sanction/disbursement/training figures for FY2024-25 could not be verified from the opened sources and were removed.
On 2 September 2025, the Chief Minister presented NKVIB's audit reports for FY2020-21 through FY2022-23 before the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
