Excise sealed a T.Nagar bar premises after liquor licence suspension; court recorded unsealing
After the High Court suspended an FL2 liquor licence in June 2025, Excise sealed a T.Nagar property on 3 September 2025. The landlord trust sought removal of the lock after the licensee surrendered the keys. On 7 November 2025 the High Court recorded that removal had been ordered and disposed of the plea.

How we verify →The seal was ordered to be removed under the 3 November 2025 order, as recorded on 7 November 2025.
What happened
The High Court recorded that, following its order dated 17.06.2025 in an earlier writ petition, the FL2 licence for the bar in the premises was suspended.
The Court recorded that the premises at Door No.117, Thyagaraya Road, T.Nagar was then sealed on 03.09.2025 under an eviction notice of the same date.
The Court recorded that the licensee later surrendered possession and handed keys to the owner on 13.10.2025, after which the owner sought removal of the seal.
The Government pleader submitted that removal had already been ordered on 03.11.2025, and the Court disposed of the petition on that basis.

A peaceful economic act
Sealing a shop for a licence suspension is licence-permit enforcement against running a business; no violence, cheating, or harm to any person was alleged.
What we could not confirm
The order does not cite the specific excise rule under which the FL2 licence was suspended beyond referring to the earlier court order; no allegation of spurious liquor or harm appears.
