What this record means

This page records what the cited court, tribunal and government records say happened. Findings belong to the court or authority that made them; this register adds none of its own. Names of private individuals are withheld unless a naming gate clears them.

How we verify →

The writ challenge was dismissed and the Section 14B damages demand stands.

What happened

The High Court recorded that the petitioner was a garment business that sought cancellation of a May 2019 provident fund ruling imposing damages for delay.

The provident fund authority said wages had been paid but contributions were delayed, and the employer cited money troubles.

The High Court held that unintentional delay does not excuse liability under Section 14B and dismissed the petition filed much later in March 2021.

No allegation of injury, death, non-payment of wages owed, child labour or bonded labour was part of the damages case.
